We are always in need of coaches to help work with our team. It is required by the MN Clay Target League that we have 1 coach per 2 lanes we occupy. It would be even better if we had a 1 to 1 ratio!

Coach training is required and provided by the MN State High School Clay Target League at a cost of $25, which, in turn, is reimbursed by our booster club to thank you for your support!

The CLASS Certification program has been designed specifically for coaches participating in the state-affiliated leagues of the USA High School Clay Target League. The League’s CLASS Certification provides a comprehensive and interactive online education and training program designed specifically for League coaches. The CLASS Certification is available to all coaches and takes 5-6 hours of online training to complete.

Benefits of the CLASS Certification

Many benefits include:

CLASS Content

The CLASS Program provides three critical areas of coach training: Leadership, Range Safety Officer, and Student Athlete Firearm Education.

Range Safety Officer The Range Safety Officer (RSO) will possess the knowledge and skills essential to organizing, conducting and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations. One RSO must be present at no more than two adjoining fields during all times when a student athlete participates in League events. The RSO’s responsibilities will include:

• Ensuring all shotguns and ammunition are handled safely at all times.

• Supervising preparation of the shooting range according to technical, safety, and target requirements.

• Ensuring the correct application of guns, ammunition and equipment is being used.

• Ensuring proper hearing and eye protection is worn by athletes.

SCORERS NEEDED!

Parent volunteer scorers are needed for each field that we shoot on. Please sign up for a time slot to help the team! Sign ups can be found at practices and competitions. Special training/certification is not required to score.

SAMPLE SCORESHEET

Here is a sample scoresheet.  It is not exactly what you will find on the field, but you get an idea of what it will look like and what you need to do. For every target hit, you make a hash mark, and for every miss, you make a circle. Announce any misses you mark so if there is a dispute, it can happen while the shooter is still aware.
